Ifrah Ahmed (20) is from Somalia and currently lives in Drogheda, Co. Louth. Despite her best efforts, Ifrah is currently unemployed but puts her time to good use volunteering and speaking out against the African tradition of Female Genital Mutilation. Ifrah has never received any formal schooling and so she has never been able to read or write in any language. She believes that improving her literacy is integral to starting a life for herself in Ireland. She dreams of some day going to college and becoming a nurse. Ifrah is performing at the Dublin Book Festival as part of the RTE Written Off? Series.
