Michael Keane is the former Editor of The Sunday Press, a position he held for eight years. During his career in The Irish Press Group Michael was a general reporter working on the three newspapers. He became Northern Editor based in Belfast in late 1972, succeeding Vincent Browne. He led the Irish Press Group team there for the next five years, covering all the political events and some of the worst violence during the so-called Troubles. On his return to Dublin he became Assistant Editor on The Irish Press and later became Deputy Chief News Editor of the Group. He was appointed Deputy Editor and News Editor of The Sunday Press, succeeding Vincent Jennings as Editor in December 1986. Following the closure of the Group Michael joined Fleishman-Hillard Saunders, the International Communications company where he became a director. In January 1996 he and Michael Parker founded Insight Consultants, one of Ireland’s major public relations companies, which is based in Sandyford. He is married to Jenny and has three adult children.
