Dublin Book Festival returns this November with its 12th edition and we are looking for literary lovers, book enthusiasts, aspiring scribes, kindle addicts and pen pushers to become one of our many festival book-worm volunteers helping to bring this latest installment of all things books and publishing set in some of the most iconic buildings and locations about the city.

Our now famous Winter Garden and literary sanctuary of  Smock Alley will host many launches, rediscoveries, talks, panel discussions, meet & greets and receptions over the four days celebrating the power of the written word in all its many evolving forms. This Festival will see the voices from the margins redefine the written ‘core’ of publishing and highlight that plurality of voices is important for its longevity. We will see emerging authors take centre stage, Irish History reassessed , our language live on in printed form, showcase Inspiring Women of Irish Literature and be a platform for the launch of political, Irish & International Manifesto to campaign for women imprisoned for their writing.

For the more adventurous and time travelers there are tours of all sorts from the much loved walking tours with Pat Liddy to historical tours following the foot-steps of the People of the City from 1600-1800, our times or revolution and the life and infamy of the Liffey itself – but who is to say you can’t seek comfort in our Winter Garden – a place of reading and writing, stories and tales for all the family.

Volunteering puts you at the forefront of the Festival Experience and presents a wonderful opportunity to see how an Arts Festival of this scale is managed and organised.  But not only this, volunteering becomes a community that lives beyond the festival, evolving into both social and professional circles in The Arts.

Volunteers can be found at venues and events helping being more than just a smiling face in the crowd -from ushering & stewarding, crowd control & the first point of contact for the public, volunteers guide them from the street to their seats.  A dynamic team spirit creates and unforgettable experience for our audience and attendees – our volunteers are invaluable asset giving up their free time to make sure others enjoy theirs
